Helping Troubled Teens-Erin's Story

When I got pregnant, my mom was ashamed of me and told me to find another place to stay until the baby was born. I had no one else to turn to at that point, not even a friend.

Thankfully, that’s when I was placed in a Safe Family. I was able to leave my stressful environment and clearly evaluate my life without any outside negative influences.

I also volunteered at LYDIA’s administrative offices. The people there are incredible.

When I needed someone to talk to, someone was always there. Everybody had a genuine concern for me and wanted to get me back on the right path.

They taught me that you should always turn to God in good times and in bad. I learned a lot about myself.

Hopefully in a couple of years, when I’m settled, I can come back to LYDIA and help another child.—Erin, 15
